United Way of Fresno County Upcoming Events 2014



90TH ANNIVERSARY GALA (MARCH 8th):  Join us as we celebrate 90 years of serving Fresno County in this 1920's themed event that will take guests through our rich history, beginning in 1924 to the present day. Read more.


DAY OF ACTION (JUNE 21st): Each year, United Ways across the country mobilize communities to Give, Advocate and Volunteer on June 21st, which is the longest day of the year. The Day of Action is a call to Give, Advocate or Volunteer on behalf of your community. Read more.



MOVIES IN THE PARK BACKPACK GIVEAWAY (AUGUST): Every summer, we work with the City of Fresno, Comcast and ABC30 to host the Movies in the Park: Backpack Drive out at Downtown’s Eaton Plaza. Over 1,200+ backpacks filled with essential school supplies, are given away to Valley students, so that they may have the proper tools to succeed in the classroom. Read more.



DAY OF CARING (SEPTEMBER): This is an annual nationwide United Way event that encourages communities to LIVE UNITED through the spirit of volunteerism. For one day, hundreds of volunteers are matched with a local nonprofit organization to complete a much needed project. Read more.



OPERATION: FRESNO SHAPE UP (OCTOBER): This one-day event provides fun physical fitness training and nutritional education for children ages 6 - 14 years old.  UWFC works in collaboration with Fresno State Athletics, former NFL star Lorenzo Neal and Valley trainers to encourage healthy and active lives for youth in our Valley. ADOPT-A-FAMILY (NOVEMBER/DECEMBER): UWFC works with businesses and organizations in Fresno County to grant wishes to families in need during the holiday season. United Way of Fresno County finds the families and connects them with a business/organization that would like to “adopt” them for the holiday. Read more.



TOYS FOR TOTS (NOVEMBER/DECEMBER): Each Holiday season, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve works with United Way of Fresno County in a combined effort to ensure needy children in the Valley receive toys. This is made possible through the efforts of toy and monetary donations from the Community. We invite you to host a toy drive! Read more.
